Terms of Service

These Terms govern your use of the bleam website, dashboard, browser extension, translation, dictionary, pronunciation, and learning features (together, the “Service”). The Service is provided by David Anderlohr - 8null. Contact details are available in the Impressum.

1. The Service

bleam helps you read web pages in a language you are learning by translating selected page text, showing dictionary help, saving vocabulary, and scheduling reviews. AI-generated translations and explanations may be inaccurate or incomplete, so you should use your own judgment before relying on them.

2. Accounts and eligibility

You need an account to use the dashboard and extension sync features. You must provide accurate account information and keep your login secure. bleam is not directed at children under 16.

3. Trial, subscription, and billing

New accounts currently receive a 14-day free trial with no card required. After the trial, Premium extension features require a paid subscription. The current public price is USD 8 per month unless a different price is shown to you at checkout. Payments and billing management are handled by Stripe.

You can cancel a subscription at any time through the Stripe billing portal from the dashboard. Cancellation stops future renewals; access may continue until the end of the paid billing period. Your statutory rights, including any withdrawal rights for consumers, are not limited by these Terms.

4. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

• use the Service for unlawful, harmful, or abusive activity;
• attempt to bypass usage limits, security controls, or payment flows;
• reverse engineer or scrape the Service except where allowed by law;
• upload or process content you are not allowed to use; or
• interfere with the availability or integrity of the Service.

5. Your content and learning data

You remain responsible for the page text and other content you choose to process with bleam. You grant us the limited rights needed to provide the Service, including sending text to processors for translation, dictionary, pronunciation, storage, and sync. Our data practices are described in the Privacy Policy.

6. Intellectual property

The Service, website, extension, design, code, brand, and related materials are owned by us or our licensors. These Terms do not transfer ownership to you. You may use the Service only as allowed by these Terms and applicable law.

7. Availability and changes

We aim to keep bleam useful and available, but we do not promise uninterrupted operation. We may change, suspend, or discontinue features where reasonably necessary, for example for security, legal, operational, or product reasons.

8. Liability

Nothing in these Terms limits liability for intent, gross negligence, injury to life, body, or health, product liability, guarantees we expressly give, or other liability that cannot be limited by law.

For slight negligence, we are liable only for breach of essential contractual obligations and only for typical, foreseeable damages. Essential contractual obligations are those whose fulfilment makes proper use of the Service possible and on which you may regularly rely.

9. Governing law

German law applies. If you are a consumer resident in another country, you also keep the protection of mandatory consumer laws that apply in your place of residence.
